Treat All God's Creatures with Kindness

For some lighter conversation today...:)

We posted this story some time ago. However, it reminds us of the uniqueness of every creature on this planet...

Here is a story written by a pastor about one of God's creatures, a little Silkie hen named Liza, who exhibited great courage when her brood was faced with danger. The video/story shows that animals have a sense of responsibility, emotions, personality, and feelings.

We all know of animals such as our horses, dogs, cats, parrots, cockatoos, parakeets, pigs, etc., and even pet ducks that respond to us, express loyalty and love, and are real characters at times displaying their unique personalities which only proves to endear them more to their owners. Different species continue to amaze us when they become true friends when, with all logic, they shouldn't be.

Shouldn't we, therefore, treat all animals with kindness, care, and love. This hold true for those being raised for food, also.

Interestingly, by raising an animal in more gentle ways and free range, and not treating an animal harshly or instilling fear in them, studies have shown that it actually improves the quality of the meat: It is healthier for you.

So, sit back and enjoy the little video,
Donna

BTW: Just so you know in case you are sharing with children... Everything turns out all right. You'll see what I mean as you watch.:)

Transgenic Foods?

Genetically Engineered Food!

The introduction of  “transgenic” species is upon us as of November 19, 2015. They have been working on this over 20 years!

What will be the effect on future generations? We have no idea. It's like playing roulette-no one knows for sure: Great odds for our children, grandchildren, and their children, isn't it?  We have no idea of the legacy we will be leaving behind for future generations.

Pesticide companies engineer new proteins into our food crops which enable high doses of their weed killer to be sprayed. There has never been any long range, long term independent safety testing on all this according to experts. Weed killer residues on our foods are growing everyday.

The FDA gave the go-ahead on November 19, 2015,  for the genetically modified Atlantic salmon, AquAdvantage salmon, to be added into our food supply without labeling! The decision marks the first time a genetically modified animal has been approved to enter the United States food supply.

What has been altered in the salmon?  growth hormone-regulating gene from a Pacific Chinook salmon and a promoter from an ocean pout, an eel-like species shown below, was added to the Atlantic's 40,000 genes.

FYI: Do you have a Costco store near you? To my knowledge, the Costco Company has no intention of selling this fish in their stores.:)

Ocean Pout

What would be the purpose for the salmon to be genetically altered like this? Splicing with an eel’s growth hormone gene and an anti-freeze gene from another causes the salmon to mature in half the time at a larger rate than the original salmon. Thus, the fish can go into market place much earlier for more profit than raising unaltered salmon. Should this GMO fish escape into the wild, though, it is speculated by experts that it would/could affect wild salmon populations.

Here are some of the other combinations:
Tomatoes and Winter Flounder
Sugar Beets and Great White Shark
Apple and Shark
Corn and Great White Shark
Soybean and Sea Horse
Spring Wheat and Eel
There are some countries that plan on waiting many years before initiating plans of introducing GMO foods into their mainstream food supply until the long range effects are analyzed from data gathered from the US. So, in other words, we are the guinea pigs of the world. Isn't that a comforting thought?
Over 60 countries around the world require labeling of GMOs. However, in the USA and Canada, GMO items are commonly found in your grocery stores without labeling as such. Are you eating DNA altered food? It is more likely than not that you are!
The "Fish Cars" conducted a cross country tour informing people of the addition of Fish DNA in Corn, Wheat, Apples, Soybeans, Sugar Beets, and Tomatoes.  This unique fleet of cars received the attention of a great many people, many of whom had not been aware of how much their food supply had changed. Many people still are unaware of this intrusion into the food supply even though well known MD's, scientists, and researchers have done their best to inform the public.

The video below tells the Fish Car's story. Below that is an infographic of the history of GMO's, as well as, some research.

As always...Live Naturally,
Stephen

P.S. This video is from 2013, however, the controversy continues. Again, do your own research. Do research, grow your own food from heirloom seeds or know your local farmers, and always be aware!

The list is quite a bit larger than what is shown above.

An Expert's View on the Use of Sonograms During Pregnancy

More and more mothers are sharing their baby's sonogram images. One of the most common answers I get when I ask why the mother is getting a sonogram (fetal ultrasound) is that they simply want to know the sex of their baby.

Although, having a fetal ultrasound during pregnancy is a common practice, there is another side worth considering of which many mothers are unaware. The well respected medical doctor, author, and researcher, the late Dr. Robert Mendelsohn expressed his views on the subject in the following video. He was both our pediatrician and friend many years ago.

If you are considering a sonogram when there is no medical urgency or expected complications, and it is simply to discover the baby's sex, do watch this video.

Another article of importance is  HERE which will substantiate the thoughts of Dr. Mendelsohn.

So many health/medical procedures initiate controversy. It is nearly unavoidable in today's society. However, for your health and health of your unborn infant, it may be well to view both sides of any procedure. Do your own research to make an informed decision,

To all expectant mothers...
Wishing you a beautiful, healthy baby,
Stephen

The following is an article from FDA.gov regarding Keepsake Videos.

Fetal Keepsake Videos

The FDA is aware of several enterprises in the U.S. that are commercializing ultrasonic imaging of fetuses by making "keepsake" videos. In some cases, the ultrasound machine may be used for as long as an hour to get a video of the fetus. We are concerned about this misuse of diagnostic ultrasound equipment.
Ultrasound is a form of energy used for many purposes in industry and medicine. Obstetricians routinely use ultrasound imaging to check the size, location, number or age of fetuses in the womb, the presence of some types of birth defects, and fetal movement, breathing and heartbeat. At somewhat higher exposure levels, given daily for weeks at a time, ultrasound is used to speed the healing of bone fractures. At much higher exposure levels, ultrasound produces a heating effect in tissue which is useful in treating sprains and pulled muscles.
From a medical standpoint, ultrasonic fetal scanning is generally considered safe and is properly used when medical information on a pregnancy is needed. But ultrasound energy delivered to the fetus cannot be regarded as completely innocuous. Laboratory studies have shown that diagnostic levels of ultrasound can produce physical effects in tissue, such as mechanical vibrations and rise in temperature. Although there is no evidence that these physical effects can harm the fetus, public health experts, clinicians and industry agree that casual exposure to ultrasound, especially during pregnancy, should be avoided. Viewed in this light, exposing the fetus to ultrasound with no anticipation of medical benefit is not justified. For additional information about the "prudent use" of diagnostic ultrasound, see the statement from the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine (AIUM).
Persons who promote, sell or lease ultrasound equipment for making "keepsake" fetal videos should know that FDA views this as an unapproved use of a medical device. In addition, those who subject individuals to ultrasound exposure using a diagnostic ultrasound device (a prescription device) without a physician's order may be in violation of State or local laws or regulations regarding use of a prescription medical device.
FDA notified the medical community and the ultrasound industry in August 1994 regarding its concerns about the misuse of diagnostic ultrasound equipment for non-medical purposes, and asked them to discourage their patients from having sonograms for non-medical reasons.

Aspartame: What is it?

Aspartame is in so many of the foods the normal household consumes.

But, what is it? Is the public in the habit of just ingesting foods because everyone else does, or because it tastes good. If one sees 0 calories, is it assumed that it has to be healthier for you?

Read labels: If you do, you will find that aspartame is commonly listed as an ingredient in not only sodas/soft drinks, but in everything from breath mints to even medications. Children consume it through many cereals, fruit flavored drinks, dessert toppings, candy, etc. And, fetuses can be affected by aspartame during gestation.

This chemical concoction,  made up of aspartic acid, phenylalanine, and methanol, was discovered over 50 years ago. Watch this little video. It is under 7 minutes long. The video will give you a bit history on aspartame that has known side-effects from headaches and memory loss, to more serious health conditions, many of which were covered up in the original studies.

.

Once ingested, it has been found that the methanol is converted by alcohol dehydrogenase (ADH) enzyme into formaldehyde, which can cause havoc on your DNA and proteins. Sounds like the embalming process is being slowly begun way before it should be.:)

Again, read labels, and live naturally.

More news next time...

Israel Bans Fluoride

Another country has banned fluoride-Israel. It has been mandated that Hot Springs, AR, add fluoride to the municipal water supply along with other cities in Arkansas with populations over 5000. Other countries, states, territories, etc., are removing it. Go figure!

Professor Arnon Afek, director-general at the Health Ministry, told the Jerusalem Post:
“Individuals have the right to decide if they want it [fluoride] or not… We cannot force people… The ministry supported it for over 40 years, but this is a new era. The world has changed, and we can educate parents.”
The research supports Professor Afek and the decision made by Israel. It is most frustrating for those who do not wish to have it added to their water.  Those who do not want to drink it, or take a bath or shower in fluoridated water don't have a choice. '

A bit of info: It is absorbed through the skin as you soak in the tub which the ladies may not appreciate. Do a little research yourself on the effects of fluoridated water on the skin. It will probably be something you will not want for yourself or want it in your children's bath water, either.

If you wish to have special filters to remove the fluoride, they are available. Visit the page of this web site at the page button menu, Fluoride, at the top of the page. There is some information on that page for you. Do call me if you have any questions.

Bees: A Barometer to the Earth's Environmental Stability

Bees: These amazing little creatures are so interconnected to our very existence, and yet, they are in such danger.

Thirty-five percent of hives are dying annually due to our environmental pollutants. We need to do something now, and each and everyone with a bit of property can make a difference in a bee's world.

I have two sites I came across that deserve some attention. They are the following: BeeAction.org  and Bee-Friendlier.com.

Albert Einstein said,  “Mankind will not survive the honeybees disappearance for more than five years.”

This was quite prophetic for one of the biggest, foreboding dangers of all facing humans is the loss of the global honeybee population. Why is that?

The consequence of a dying bee population impacts man at the highest levels on our food chain, posing an enormously grave threat to human survival. It is amazing how a creature so small can have such a huge impact on our lives.

Did you know that 70 out of the top 100 crops for our human food, which supplies around 90% of the world's nutrition, are pollinated by bees. A single bee colony can pollinate 300 million flowers each day. This consists of fruits, nuts, and vegetables. Honey bees, both wild and domestic, perform 80% of the pollination... Unbelievable!

Since 2006 beekeepers have been noticing their honeybee populations have been dying off at increasingly rapid rates. In Iowa, alone, there has been a decrease of over 70%! California's bee production has dropped nearly half in the last 6 years, and so many other states have seen a reduction, as well, such as Florida.

Chemicals, herbicides, and insecticides being used are having a horrifying effect on the bee population.  Hives are being devastated by what is known  Honeybee Colony Collapse Disorder (CCD). This problem has caused such a loss that the bee phenomenon has been recognized as an urgent crisis. There are so many other maladies that bees suffer from, even through electro-magnetic cell tower emissions.  What is happening to bees is a barometer to the earth's environmental stability.

Visit the websites, plant some wild flowers even if it is in containers, do your best to avoid pesticides, herbicides, and chemicals around your home and property for the sake of bees and all of nature, and plant heirloom or GMO free seeds in your garden if at all possible. If we each cooperate with nature, we can collectively change our world and preserve the natural habitats of God's creations, as well as, our food supply.

Be kind to nature and nature will be able to do what God intended for it to do for you.

God bless,
Stephen

The Numerous Chemicals in Our Lives and the Effect on Our Children

A study by the Environmental Working Group, found that unborn babies may be affected the most by the more than 85,000 chemicals registered for use in the US today, and most are found to be inadequately tested.Researchers tested the umbilical cord blood of several babies. They found over 270 industrial chemicals and pollutants in each cord. Of the over 270 chemicals, 180 are known to cause cancer, 219 are toxic to the brain and nervous system and 210 cause birth defects in animals. We are overdosing on harmful chemicals from before birth!

According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), studies today show Dioxins, PCBs, DDT, and other organochlorines are among over 210 chemicals found in samples of human breast milk. Chemicals are a fact of life. It's sad and most alarming.

There's nothing better for babies than breast milk for all the benefits nutritionally and
emotionally they receive. What we have to do is to keep mommy and baby's environment as chemically free as possible. And, there's so much people can do individually.

When we first moved to our state, Donna was breast feeding our youngest. Nursing mothers were advised to have their milk sampled. It turned out that Heptachlor sprayed on feed was found to be excreted into cow's milk at higher levels than normal and was showing up in the milk sold in stores which was most alarming.

Why was it alarming? Here is a quote from an article about this:
"Heptachlor causes cancer in animals, may cause cancer in humans, and, in fact, is of sufficient health concern that it's banned from all uses except killing termites. In breast milk, heptachlor poses a special risk because the body absorbs it rapidly and can store it in fatty tissue for a year or more. Breast milk, like cow's milk, is rich in fat, so it becomes a major route for elimination of heptachlor from the mother's body. A baby fed heptachlor-contaminated breast milk could, in fact, have heptachlor levels greater than the mother. " Article

You can, also, read about it HERE from the NY Times. It was quite a newsworthy event at the time.
Donna submitted a sample; however, her results came back so low that they were minuscule. The state phoned her and asked if they could use her sample results as part of the data that had to be submitted to the national data base for the study since several states were involved. She was told that they were the lowest numbers they'd seen. She declined because she wasn't the typical lactating woman. She told the person that it really wouldn't give an honest entry for their averages into the study because she didn't drink milk, and that was probably why her numbers were almost non-existent.

Donna was primarily a vegetarian, and had been for years. She and the family ate a lot of green leafy vegetables, as well as, organic whole grains. She produced more than enough milk for our little ones, but she didn't consume much cow's milk per se, or a lot other dairy products for that matter. Whatever little cow's milk she consumed on cereal and such, she always made first into yogurt or kefir milk, and that was all she really used. The person said something that we'll always remember, "But you have to drink a lot of milk in order to nurse."

I saw her hesitate for a moment before she answered, and then she replied, something to the effect as best as I can recall, "Why would I have to drink milk to produce milk? Cow's don't drink milk to make milk. Isn't it interesting that no other mammal on earth drinks the milk of another species in order to produce enough milk for its own young? And, yet, humans feel that it is necessary to do so. And, now I'm so glad I don't, for I would, indeed, be worrying about my precious little boy as, I'm sure, the other mothers are about their little ones right now whose numbers are so much more significant than mine. I can well imagine what they must be going through."

Here was a chemical that entered the lives of totally unsuspecting parents in several states, this time through something so seemingly innocent as milk consumption, store bought milk, that didn't give a clue as to what it contained. What a traumatic thing to discover when no one would have even suspected!

What is hepatchlor? In a very brief synopsis... Heptachlor was introduced in the 1946 and banned in 1988. It was originally only to be used to control termites, from what I understand. However, it was additionally used as insecticide on seed grains. It's an organochlorine and became extensively used in the 1960s and 1970s in household and agricultural settings. Studies link heptachlor to cancer, endocrine disruption, and developmental toxicity, but the full extent of heptachlor's health effects are currently unknown. It is a very persistent chemical, and it's even found throughout the United States nearly twenty years after being banned!

Now it officially should only be used, according to the EPA, to exterminate fire ants in and around underground, buried transformers. It has been banned in numerous other countries; however, so many countries do not have any restrictions. We really don't know how supplies are being used in those areas of the world.

It makes one wonder: What will be the next commonly used agri-chemical, herbicide, or insecticide to be banned because it's eventually deemed too dangerous to use or there's an "accident" that causes harm? Heptachlor was once used around the home and in agriculture. Will some chemical that is now commonly being used around homes, yards, and in agriculture across this nation be banned sometime in the future? Will it then be too late for it will already be in our soil, our bodies, and the environment? Do you take that chance? It's something to at least think about, isn't it?

Chemicals are in our lives, Friend, and they are not going to go away. The corporate giants and the agri-business world will see to that. We can, however, do some things individually, and perhaps join together within our communities, to avoid chemicals as much as humanly possible especially since they can be accumulative in our bodies.

After that, all we can do is simply do the best we can for ourselves and our loved ones, and then leave the rest to God.

Take care, and thanks for visiting...
Stephen

The defoliant and herbicide agent orange, used extensively throughout the Vietnam War, contained 2,4-D. The controversies associated with the use of Agent Orange were associated with a contaminant (dioxin) in the 2,4,5-T component.[9]

2,4-D is primarily used as a herbicide.[10] It is sold in various formulations under a wide variety of brand names. 2,4-D can be found in lawn herbicide mixtures such as "Weed B Gon MAX", "PAR III", "Trillion", "Tri-Kil", "Killex" and "Weedaway Premium 3-Way XP Turf Herbicide". All of these mixtures typically contain three active ingredients: 2,4-D,mecoprop and dicamba. Over 1,500 herbicide products contain 2,4-D as an active ingredient.
2,4-D is most commonly used for:
§ Weed control in lawns and other turf
§ No-till burndown
§ Control of weeds and brush along fences and highway and railroad rights of way
§ Conifer release (control of broad-leaf trees in conifer plantings)
§ Grass hayfields and pastures
§ Cereal grains
§ Corn and sorghum (occasionally)
§ As a synthetic auxin analogue
2,4-D continues to be used, where legal, for its low cost. However, where municipal lawn pesticide bylaws exist, such as in Canada,[11] alternatives such as corn gluten meal andvinegar-based products are increasingly being used to combat weeds.
Health effects of pesticides may be acute or delayed in those who are exposed.[1] A 2007 systematic review found that "most studies on non-Hodgkin lymphoma and leukemia showed positive associations with pesticide exposure" and thus concluded that cosmetic use of pesticides should be decreased.[2] Strong evidence also exists for other negative outcomes from pesticide exposure including neurological, birth defectsfetal death,[3] and neurodevelopmental disorder.[4] According to The Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants, 10 of the 12 most dangerous and persistent chemicals are pesticides.[5]
