Our Rights to Buy Supplements We Want to Take May Be taken Away

On Thursday, Feb. 4, 2010, Senators John McCain (R-AZ) and Byron Dorgan (D-ND) introduced The Dietary Supplement Safety Act (DSSA) of 2010. The title of the bill is: “A bill to amend the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act to more effectively regulate dietary supplements that may pose safety risks unknown to consumers.”

This bill would amend DSHEA and undermine, if not entirely eliminate, consumer access to valuable dietary supplements, according to Jim Turner, Citizens for Health Board Chair it will...

"* Reverse the 100-year long status of supplements as foods;
* Create erroneous requirements for supplements not applied to other foods or even to prescription drugs; and
* Wipe out significant numbers of small supplement manufacturers and sellers.

This bill, typical of Washington's 'destroy the economy, wipe out consumer rights, and undermine individual health' mentality," says Turner, "thoughtlessly reinforces the costly, unresponsive, dangerous policies that have created an unsafe and depleted food supply and a bankrupt health care system."

This is serious, Folks. Over the years, there have been several attempts by individuals and groups to interfere in the choice to purchase supplements/vitamins we want to use. This is an absurd bill that intends to infringe upon our freedom to choose once again.

Everyone must take action if this freedom is as vitally important to them as it is to us. Send a letter to your Senators now, urging them to reject S. 3002, the Dietary Supplement Safety Act of 2010. Www.FDALitigationfund.com is a place where you can donate to help those who are trying stop this bill. This site was recommended on the Robert Scott Bell Sunday Radio Show. There is so much more to this bill than one can imagine.

What is so alarming is that it is on the cusp of the world negotiating the Codex Alimentarius, which could put supplements world-wide in the hands of a select few to determine what is sold, what is not sold, how it is sold, and in what dosages. The way everything is written, it can be interpreted very broadly to EXTREMELY LIMIT your choices. If one is adopted, will the other follow? Let's all do something now. Write your senator today!

More to come... Take care, stay happy,
