The Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant Raising Fears: Are you Living Near a Nuclear Power Plant?

The battle to save the Fukushima nuclear power plant now appears lost as the radioactive core from Reactor No. 2 has melted through the containment vessel and dropped into the concrete basement of the reactor structure. This is "raising fears of a major release of radiation at the site," reports The Guardian, which broke the story (http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/201...).

A less serious core meltdown happened at the Three Mile Island nuclear plant in Pennsylvania in 1979. During that incident, engineers managed to cool the molten fuel before it penetrated the steel pressure vessel. The task is a race against time, because as the fuel melts it forms a blob that becomes increasingly difficult to cool.

In the light of the Fukushima crisis, Richard Lahey, who was head of safety research for boiling-water reactors at General Electric when the company installed the units at Fukushima, said all countries with nuclear power stations should have "Swat teams" of nuclear reactor safety experts on standby to give swift advice to the authorities in times of emergency, with international groups co-ordinated by the International Atomic Energy Authority.

Concerns are rising about the effects of radiation here in the states. Disclaimer: The following is for Informational Purposes ONLY and not to take the place of your physician or primary care giver. I stress this strongly. Should you have any doubt about your health and possible radio-active contact, CONSULT your doctor as soon as possible!

These are recommendations that I have researched that MAY help in an emergency situation and, it appears, were used during the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

And these things are:
• Kelp
• Seaweed
• Spirulina
• Chlorella, etc.
(Basically, various foods that comes out of the ocean.)

At the time of the atomic bombing, Tatsuichiro Akizuki, M.D. was Director of the Department of Internal Medicine at St. Francis’s Hospital in Nagasaki and he fed his staff and patients a strict diet of brown rice, miso and tamari soy soup, wakame, kombu and other seaweed, Hokkaido pumpkin, and sea salt. He, also, prohibited the consumption of sugar and sweets since they suppress the immune system. By imposing this diet on his staff and patients, no one succumbed to radiation poisoning whereas the occupants of other hospitals located much further away from the blast incident suffered severe radiation fatalities.

Much of this positive result has to do with the fact that it appears that sea vegetables contain substances that bind radioactive particles and escort them out of the body. This is why seaweed sales usually skyrocket after radiation disasters as it has in recent weeks, and why various seaweeds and algae are typically used to treat radiation victims.

Consuming Reishi mushrooms is another proven way to bolster your immune system after radiation exposure and helps reduce the damage from radiation. It’s been used to decrease radiation sickness in animals and help them recover faster after potentially deadly exposure.

More can be read Here along with a basic, anti-radiation diet. Take precautions. People are worried about the radiation from Japan affecting the rest of the world. And, many of us live within 150 miles of nuclear power plants. Anything can happen. So, have some of these natural remedies and foods on hand.

Have a good day-Stephen

Potassium iodide and kelp have risen in price to such an extent that on Ebay, it is well out of reach for most people. However, I have found a source that hasn't taken advantage of the crisis and situations at hand. For reasonably priced potassium iodide and kelp, click on the banner:

Food & Monsanto: "Future of Food"-the Movie

"Agriculture bio-technology will find a supporter occupying he White House next year, regardless of which candidate wins the election in November." Monsanta, in-house Newsletter dated Oct. 6th, 2000.

Studies done on GMO soy beans were done at the University of Arkansas. Interesting findings.
GMO fed rats had suppressed immune systems & other health challenges!
A terminator gene (known as the suicide gene) is put into crops to kill them after a certain point. Result: Stop normal seed production. (The co-owner of this terminator gene patent is the United States Government.)
Patented genes are not limited to food!
Should food, or any life at all, be patented? Monsanto and Big Agribusiness thinks so!
GMO foods that were approved for release: Zucchini, Hawaiian Papaya, Tobacco, Crook Neck Squash, Flax, Radicchio, Rice, Sugar Beet, Bovine Growth Hormone, Peppers, Carrots, 15 different kinds of fish, etc...
Mexico banned the growing of GMO corn-Why?

That story is most interesting. All this information and more is told in the movie, Future of Food. It is a movie that you must watch. It is a movie that everyone needs to watch. It can be found on Netflix to watch instantly. If you don't have Netflix, you can get a free trial by clicking HERE or on the banner to the right. Be aware of what is going on. We are what we eat!

Stay well; stay informed,

California Agribusiness Interests Targeted EWG

I received the following email from the Environmental Working Group. This is the group where we got the great little hand-out that we have shared with people on the pesticides that are on our fresh fruits and vegetables. Please read with interest and concern. These issues affect all of us, our food supply, and our life:

Dear Friend,

We knew we must be doing something right when California agribusiness interests targeted EWG's Shopper's Guide to Pesticides with an expensive, misleading public relations campaign this summer. The Alliance for Food and Farming (AFF), a public relations group of big, pro-pesticide agricultural producers, made the nonsensical claim that the EWG Guide is influencing people to eat fewer vegetables. We knew most people wouldn't be fooled, but we were shocked when California and federal officials started handing out taxpayer dollars to support the industry's tactics and phony accusations.

That's right. The California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) and the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) have handed $180,000 of your money to an industry front group -- a boondoggle intended to counter "claims by activist groups about unsafe levels of pesticides."

If you agree that it's outrageous to use taxpayer dollars to finance attacks on independent food safety watchdog groups like EWG that educate the public about pesticides in food, the USDA needs to hear from you today.

Click here to sign our petition telling USDA officials they shouldn't fund disinformation campaigns and should investigate whoever approved this grant!

This money comes out of the USDA Specialty Crops Block Grant program -- which is intended to promote sales of fruits and vegetables. Its purpose is being distorted to help chemical-dependent agribusiness fight back against consumers' increasing demand for organic and sustainably produced fruits and vegetables. The grant to the Alliance for Food and Farming was one of 63 grants, totaling $17.3 million, issued to California food and agricultural organizations.

The AFF has a long history of putting pesticide-dependent profits ahead of healthy food choices. When the EPA phased out methyl bromide -- a powerful pesticide that damages Earth's protective ozone layer -- representatives of the AFF called the phase-out "a big concern." They then embraced a replacement, methyl iodide, that EPA officials call "highly toxic."

This is not the type of group that should be getting taxpayer money. Help us convince USDA officials that the Specialty Crops Block Grant program should be used to promote locally grown, organic and sustainably produced fruits and vegetables -- not to bulk up the public relations budget of pesticide-dependent corporate farming interests. The agency should investigate how an industry front group received a $180,000 grant.

Click here to sign our petition today. It's unpalatable that your tax dollars fund disinformation about pesticides in food.

Thank you for supporting organic farming.

Sincerely,
Ken Cook
President, Environmental Working Group

Fowl Play:The Movie on the Chicken Industry-Shocking!

Just recently the chicken industry was again focused on during a TV show segment: I believe it was Oprah. The way that chickens are treated, injected with hormones and drugs, and abused for the sake of commercial enterprise is appalling!

Here is a trailer clip for an eye-opening movie, Fowl Play. We saw the entire movie at the local documentary film festival last year. Note: If you are sensitive, I forewarn you of the graphic details you will see:

Watch and share. People need to know.

Know what you are eating. Most food is not wholesome, unadulterated food anymore. It doesn't come from pristine, farm environments as it did in the past. The old-fashioned Mr. and Mrs. Farmers are hard to find.

In general, "Big Agriculture," with their chemicals, hormones, genetic modification, and mass produced crops and stock grow and control our food: Beware!

Shop at you local farmer's markets. Ask about the food you are even buying there, however. Some people, a very few, not all mind you, may, unfortunately, buy food to resell. So, ask around to find true, organic farmers. The cost will be a bit higher, but it will be well worth it. If you purchase from the super markets, wash them well with ionized water at 11.5pH to dissolve those oil-based chemicals. They don't come off with just tap water. That's another post in itself.

Another choice is to grow sprouts if you can't grow a garden. It is not difficult, doesn't take up much space, and the nutritional benefits are so great! I'll post more on this at a later time.

Sorry... I got a bit off the original subject-line. Getting back to the chickens. What's the alternative if you have to have chicken? Raise your own if you have the space and time. I grant you , that 's a little difficult for city dwellers. Or, do a little research and locate people who raise range-free chickens in the barnyard without drugs and hormones. You may have to travel a bit to find your source. If so, make a trip once a month or two and freeze what you get. At least you'll be able to see exactly how they are raised and treated. Or, form a co-op with some other folks and have one person pick up everyone's chicken order. In other words, take turns traveling to the source if the farmers don't ship which many, however, do. We used to do that to get raw milk many years ago when it was still available. And, it was so good! Those were the days...

BTW: If a label in a store says, "uncaged", the chickens could just be all jammed-packed in a poorly-ventilated building. Not much better conditions than for those that are caged. That term doesn't mean anything these days unless you know for sure.

Chickens need to be outside, free to move around and be "happy." Happy chickens; healthier meat.

Eat healthy...stay healthy,
Stephen
